Controlling Tiktok From Browser
The TikTok website on safari on my computer (Wi-Fi connection was just fine before I went on the website) is super slow and glitchy. Not any better when I checked on Chrome.
There is an auto scroll option
- It doesn’t show a scroll it kind of just cuts to the next video. I don’t know if we want the scroll to be visualized or if this is okay.
You can’t display just the TikTok video. Either you see the caption/comments and the rest of the homepage or you can ‘Fullscreen’ the video which then displays the video on the left side of the screen with the caption/comments on the right side of the screen.
The arrow key shortcuts do work

- Every time I used one, it did not start the next video instantly, it froze for a second and then played
Play/pause with a click or the space bar

Found one video as short as 5 seconds and as long as 30 minutes
- The TikTok api info says the maximum length is 10 minutes
- This article says minimum is 3 seconds but it doesn’t look the most trustworthy: https://www.proglobalbusinesssolutions.com/tiktok-video-length-mimimum-and-maximum-limit/#:~:text=3 seconds is the minimum,anything less than this mark .
Update: Anna mentioned she is open to using YouTube shorts or instagram reels rather than TikTok. From what I can find- YouTube shorts can range from 15 - 60 seconds. Instagram reels can range from 15 - 90 seconds. Neither of these websites allow you to view the length of the video as you watch it though so I didn’t look further into this
